BCN OCELLS II
The [BCN OCELLS] project is an artistic initiative of the Sustainable Art Association that aims to raise awareness and educate society about the importance of biodiversity and birdlife conservation in cities, as well as to show the creative potential of children and young people by promoting a collaborative and artistic sense.
In its second edition of 2016 the project [BCN OCELLS] had the collaboration of the Nou Patufet School and SEO / Birdlife Catalonia, which gave a talk about the different species of birds in the city, their benefits and the risks they suffer. And on the other hand on recycling and reuse of objects to protect the environment. The initiative, under the mediation of Jaime López and Lola Ortiz, consisted of an artistic workshop aimed at primary school children (between 6 and 12 years old) in which, using recycled materials, they built feeder houses for urban birds of Barcelona (chiffchaffs, sparrows, chickadees...), which were hung in the trees of Bruniquer street in Barcelona.
Showing children's creative potential, fostering a sense of collaboration and increasing environmental awareness were the objectives achieved in this sustainable artistic action.
